Lodge Fiji helps out the Disability Sector

On May 19th, 2020, Lodge Fiji reached out to assist the Disability Sector in a programme to distribute supplies to vulnerable persons who were impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as by the recent tropical cyclone “Harold.” Within the relief packages being distributed were much needed supplies of sanitary packs, adult diapers, anti-bacterial soaps and groceries, which had been supplied to identified persons living between the Narere and Nausori areas.

The programme was coordinated by W Bro. Naigulevu of Lodge Fiji and Mr. Bai from the Disability Sector. When it was brought to the Lodge’s attention, it was seen that a significant number of persons living with disability were struggling in their communities, and with the ongoing bad weather, as well as the restrictions in place due to Covid-19, it’s been hard for them to make ends meet. This was a big concern and some effort was needed to help out the vulnerable citizens living in our communities.

Mr. Bai gave Lodge Fiji a list of the relief items needed and coordinated with the affiliate groups within the Disability Sector to compile a list of 20 names of affected people in the community, to whom the relief packages would be distributed to. Lodge of Fiji then donated the supplies, which came to an estimated amount of close to one thousand two hundred dollars (FJD$1,200.00)

All the items were then recorded and divided into relief packages, and delivered on the same day.
