Lodge of Lautoka hosts Thanksgiving meeting

On Saturday- 7th November, 2020, Lodge Lautoka had invited all Freemasons across the country to attend a Thanksgiving meeting, to thank everyone for their support in the building of the Lodge’s new Meeting House. This meeting was attended by Lodge of Fiji and Lodge Polynesia and visiting Masons who were away from their native shores.

The meeting marked a most significant milestone, not only for Lodge Lautoka but for Freemasonry in Fiji, as a whole. For decades, the Lodge had gone through a period where Masonic meetings were difficult to arrange, and it was especially difficult when there was no established meeting place. This situation forced its members to book conference halls and the occasional office spaces once every month just so they could meet and discuss ongoing charity work. The absence of a proper meeting place, also affected membership and attendance, which fluctuated over the years.

The building of a new meeting place was always a topic of discussion, but it was the identification of some land in the Nadi area some years ago that started the ball rolling, and within a few years, land titles were secured, building plans were made and passed by the local authorities and with enough financial support and donated resources coming in from the local and overseas Lodges (Vanuatu, Australia and New Zealand), the Lodge building started to take shape, and finally, as construction came to an end, it was only fitting to not only showcase the result of all the effort and support that went  in to this Project, but to thank everyone who had a hand in seeing it all through from beginning to end.

With the establishment of a new Lodge building, it is the vision of Lodge Lautoka that membership and attendance will begin to rise, which will in turn contribute to more charity work in the West and across the country.
